The Vitreous Materials Laboratory (LaMaV) started in 1977 and has now a comprehensive set of glass testing equipment and experienced personal.

Numerous testing and development work have been carried out for Brazilian companies dealing with glass, ceramic, metallurgical and optical industries. In this occasion we open our doors to offer services to international companies.

To give an idea of the excellency gained throughout the years, several national and international prizes have been awarded to members of the LaMaV team:

  • "Foster Research Prize in Glass Technology" (1982) - The University of Sheffield Senate, UK.
  • "Brazilian Ceramic Society Award" (1983) - São Paulo - Brazil.
  • "Zachariasen Award" (1990) - Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, for a series of articles published between 1987-1989, Amsterdam - Holland.
  • "Honorable Mention" (1992) - Brazilian Association of Automated Glass Industries (ABIVidro), São Paulo - Brazil.
  • "Vittorio Gottardi Prize" (1993) - International Commission on Glass, for a collection of papers published between 1982-1992, Charleroi, Belgium.
